A suspension letter stops all action on a trademark registration application. An application may be suspended because the examiner is waiting for the disposition of a cited prior pending application, or if the examiner is waiting for an assignment of ownership to be recorded. Applicants can respond to the letter with argument or wait for the suspension to be lifted.
