A “poor man’s copyright” is what some people call the practice of sending a copy of your own work to yourself and not opening the package to prove that you possessed it on a certain date. However, there is no provision in the copyright law regarding any such type of protection, and there is no legal precedent to indicate that this practice is a substitute for registration.
