A notice of allowance is a confirmation that a trademark application has been allowed for registration. Once a trademark is published in the national Gazette there is a thirty-day period in which interested parties can file an opposition to the Mark and if no opposition is filed the notice of allowance is sent to the applicant. Notices of allowance are only issued for applications that have been filed based on “intent to use.” The applicant must file a statement of use or a request for an extension of time to file a statement of use within 6 months from the issue date of the notice of allowance or the application will be abandoned.
