The Boy with the Rainbow Heart
In this week’s blog post, we will be exploring a book called “The Boy with the Rainbow Heart-The Invasion of Big Angry Red” by Will Mason. “The Invasion of Big Angry Red” is a second book from the series “The Boy with the rainbow Heart.”
Here’s what the author had to say about the book series: ” A couple years ago, I created a children’s book, called ‘The Boy with the Rainbow Heart’ in an attempt to spread more love to kids who might feel different. I was inspired to write the book because my sister had a really tough time when she came out as a kid – both at home and at school.”
Currently, he has another book in the works called “The Invasion of Big Angry Red,” which has its own kickstarter page.

The second book
Will has a great reason for writing the second book. On the kickstarter page, it says that “we are launching the second book in the series, called ‘The Invasion of Big Angry Red,’ which is centered on bullying. We are dedicating this book to Jamel Myles, the 9 year old student who sadly killed himself after being bullied when he came out to his classmates this past August. It broke my heart to see that, so we got in touch with his family, and we are dedicating this book to him – as well as donating 5% of all book-sales to GLSEN – which helps spread LGBTQ acceptance in schools across the US.

We need to raise $10,000 to cover the following:
- illustration costs
- packaging costs
- reward fulfillment costs
- ordering the hardcover print copies of the books!
What’s our schedule/timeline?
- June – Kickstarter Launch
- July – Kickstarter End
- July – Order books!
- August/September – Receive books and begin packaging rewards
- September/October – Send reward packages & books!
What do the books look/feel like?
- 8.5 by 11 hardcover, full & vibrant colored, 32 page children’s book!
