AMERICANSHIP® Entrepreneurial Social Network
What is the name of your business? Where are you located? What are you trying to accomplish with your venture?
It’s The AMERICANSHIP® Entrepreneurial Social Network at www.americanshipusa.com. I’m, George M. Rease a native Buffalonian and my goal is to provide meeting place on the internet where inventors, innovators, artists, and creative types can interact with investors, marketers, manufacturers, and patent attorneys to get their projects off the ground.
What is your background and how long have you been involved with this industry?
I come from a working class background. I’ve worked for the last 10 years putting my projects together and helping others solve problems with theirs.
How did your idea come about? How did you organize your team?
It came about while talking with a friend about an invention idea that he had and I realized that many people I’ve met had ideas but had trouble with the steps necessary to turn their ideas into realities.
I’m a “wolf pack of one” but I need others to join the pack to share their knowledge and experience…everyone has something to offer.
I said that there should be one all-encompassing site and I should start a forum for those people.
Are you familiar with any of the laws regarding patent, trademark law or licensing and how they affect your business?
I have experience with trademark registration and some forms of licensing.
As far as patents..I think that getting a patent attorney is priority one. It’s a complicated process and you need professional help in that area.
What were some of your concerns as a new business?
Navigating the government websites isn’t easy and I’m sharing my experiences as a layman. Some of it can be done easily but there is a definite advantage to having professional legal help. Other than some writer’s block issues, I’m certain that I can educate others through my blog and podcast as well as connecting people on the associated forum.
As a small business operator, what type of lessons could you give to inventors and people with new ideas as to how to bring their ideas to fruition?
Don’t procrastinate and don’t be scared ! Do research, talk to a lawyer, and get busy!
Do you have any questions that you think should be asked and answered? Do want to add
anything else about yourself or your business?
I’m not an expert and I have many questions about patents and the changes in patent law, as others do. I’d like to take a grassroots approach to all of the processes and share info with I’d like to take a grassroots approach to all of the processes and share info with men and women to achieve their goals. Above all I want to help others.
