Patent Fundamentals 3rd to be published soon
Right after president Barack Obama signed the America Invents Act into law our team here at PatentHome started writing the third edition of the book entitled “Patent Fundamentals for Scientists and Engineers” to include an explanation of all the new patent laws.
We gave our final edits to the publisher about a week or so ago and we received the first draft of the cover for the book by e-mail today. We look forward to having the book published and offered for sale by the end of the summer or early fall.
Our legal team at Patent Home (registered patent attorneys Vincent G. LoTempio and Brendan S. Lillis and patent agent Arthur S. Cookfair) collectively decided that inventors need to know the fundamentals of patent law to be able to more efficiently communicate with a patent attorney during the patent application process.
Even though the first two editions of the book were directed primarily at corporate inventors such as scientists and engineers the third edition does a good job of explaining the fundamentals of patent law and filing a patent application to the everyday independent inventor.
It has become more common for the average Joe to come up with a great new idea and want to protect it with a patent. As patent attorneys we meet with inventors daily and counsel them with regard to the basics of patent law. This book teaches the same lessons that we give to inventors when they meet with us to discuss their inventions and their patent application.
In this book we include case studies to help teach basic patent concepts and attempt to write the book in everyday language that anyone will understand. It’s very exciting for us to become published authors about a subject that is very dear to our hearts and we look forward to the book coming out this fall. Once it’s published we will certainly announce it here at Patent Home first.
